We live in a place in God’s world where there are dozens and dozens of very different unreached people groups living together without the hope and message of Jesus. These unreached people groups cross “geo-political” boundaries and live in Thailand, modern day Myanmar (formerly named Burma), China, Laos, and some in Vietnam. One of these people groups that God has put on our hearts are known as the Lu Mien people group. The Lu Mien are better known as the Yao People. This group calls themselves Iu Mien or simply Mien, but in China they are widely known by their Chinese name Pan Yao. According to Joshua Project sources, the majority of this people group live in China. It is estimated that there are 1,228,000 living in China, 257,000 of them living in Vietnam, 46,000 of them living in Thailand, and 18,000 living in Laos. I was surprised to learn that there are some 18,000 living in the U.S.A. The total world population for this unreached people group is 1,585,000
Reaching The Lu Mien (Yao) UPG of Southeast Asia- Part 2 – Prayer Day 14
Much like the Khon Muang Unreached People Group (UPG), the Lu Mien UPG is one of the least reached peoples in the world and are all around where we live right here in the heart of Northern Thailand. God is allowing us to play a small part in reaching some from this UPG including one of our awesome partners in ministry many of you know as Phet. There is much work still to be done but the laborers are truly few.
Prayer Example:“Lord, we come before Your throne of grace, recognizing the reality that no one can come to You unless You draw them. When we hear of how very few people in this people group know You and most have never heard the message of Jesus not even one time. We plead for their salvation and for You to draw them to Yourself. We pray for You to bless and strengthen the outreach efforts of NTIM and other organizations that are working everyday to reach these people for You. We pray that You would provide them with the resources they need in finances, in personnel, and in training so that their lives can be changed and Your kingdom can be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray this in Jesus name and for His glory. Amen.”
