Taking the Gospel to the Heart of the 10-40 Window

Reflecting on Good Friday – April 14, 2017

April 14, 2017 by MichaelJohnson

I love Easter and everything leading up to Easter and today for some reason I have been reflecting on Good Friday and wanted to share a few thoughts with you.
Most of us do not realize that it was on Friday that Jesus was both crucified and spoke those famous last words “it is finished” while hanging on the cross right before He gave up His Spirit.
The Greek word that was used while on the Cross was “tetelestai.” It is accurately translated as “it is complete” or “it is finished” but there is another aspect to this word that continues to draw my attention. This Greek word “tetelestai” was also used as an accounting term and when it was used in the accounting realm, it literally meant “paid in full.” The debt is cancelled. The word “tetelestai” was the word that accountants would write on bills when they had been completely paid. No more debt is owed. Tetelestai. When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for sin and there is no more debt to be paid. Tetelestai.
What great news but dear friends, millions and millions living in and around Northern Thailand in some of the least reached people groups in the world today still have not heard this message. Jesus’ task is TETELESTAI but yours and mine are not even close to being tetelestai. Let us be about our Father’s business of taking this message to the ends of the earth … until all have heard.
As you gather together with friends for a meal or at your church this Easter Sunday, please voice a prayer for the millions of unreached peoples living with little or no access to the message of “Teteestai” and please say a pray for the NTIM team as we seek to join God in reaching some of the least reached with this message.
