There are nearly 114 different people groups and 80 of them are classified as unreached (UPGs) in Thailand alone. The three main groups are the Central Thai, Esan, and Northern Thai. The most prominent Unreached People Group (UPGs) in Northern Thailand are the Khon Muang. However, 12.5% of the population in Chiang Rai is different “hill tribe” groups such as the Akha and Hmong people groups. The vast majority of these people are Buddhist as Buddhism is the main religion of Thailand. Statistically, only 1.3% of the population in Thailand are professing Christians. God has been faithful to provide 6 Thai national partners to work alongside NTIM. These 6 people are among the first in their families to believe in Jesus Christ. They represent 4 different unreached people groups the Muang, Hmong, Mien, and Akha.
